Brief Prop and Costume History
First seen in Attack of the Clones, with a revised design for
Revenge of the Sith - The Clone Troopers were the precursors to The
Stormtroopers that appeared in the Original Trilogy. They were designed by
Doug Chiang who fused the earlier Stormtrooper design with that of Boba
Fett.
Unfortunately for us prop fans, there were no real-world
Clone Trooper since after design were resigned to CG-only - no actual Clone
trooper helmets or armour were made for either movie - hence modern day
replicas are the closest we can get to holding a "real" Clone Trooper
helmet.
Replicas:
Helmet and Costume fans have been fairly well catered for by both Licensed
and non-licensed producers. With good timing Master Replicas launched a
whole range of Ep3 Clone Trooper Helmets - and following their departure
from the market E-FX followed on with a couple f excellent Episode 2
versions.
However it was left to the fan-market to cater for some of
the unique Clone characters (such as Commanders Cody, Bligh and Bacarra - as
well as the all-important Armor. |
